Friday Food Finds: Bougrier Vouvray 2008
If you have not had the pleasure of introducing a Vouvray into your repertoire of white wines in house, this sprightly version from Jean Claude Bougrier is the perfect opportunity. Off-dry, with a touch of residual sugar, this wine exhibits the same honeyed, floral notes characteristic of the Vouvray region along with the nice balance of crisp acidity and green apple flavor coming from the Chenin Blanc grape varietal.
For me, this bottle captures the essence of Spring, and with an 89 Wine Spectator rating, it is a steal at $10.
I like to serve this paired with my Farro Mushroom Risotto or a warm goat cheese salad.
